Online Advertising

A photography business is not the easiest to advertise because it is hard to generate enough money to be able to put out advertisements. Facebook advertising would be great for my business because there are so many people on Facebook and there is a good chance a substantial amount of people will see your page. I think placing a photography advertisement on facebook would be a great idea since there are a lot of people my age who do like photography and a lot of people who are trying to become models who might need their pictures taken so they can send them in. Facebook advertising would definitely be the way to go for me and by business because people take an interest in photography and there are a lot of those people on Facebook. As for Twitter, not as many people will see your Ad and its not as easy to be able to post what you want since you are limited to what you can say. Facebook would help me target those of all ages. Families that want to get family pictures, christmas cards, weddings, etc..

The Advertisement tags i chose were the most simplest ones targeting people who are just interested in photography.

The second set i added words that would attract people who need a photographer for a certain event.

  1. What I also think that is great about photography as business is in regards to the use of social media in order to promote yourself. In this way, you are able to directly show your consumers some of your professional work. I definitely agree that using Facebook is much more effective than Twitter for your business.

  2. Cameron is right. The best way to advertise your photography business on Facebook is by getting your friends and family to like your page and posting your best photographs. My wife's cousin has a photography business and he posts his photos and adds a motivational quote or a reflection and tags his friends and family. If you do this, I would suggest asking their permission first however. I personally do not like being group tagged in pictures. I imagine there are others that feel the same.

  3. You are absolutely right about generating enough income to budget in paid advertising as a photographer. A good friend of mine has a photography business and is constantly coming up with "creative" ways to advertise without spending a fortune. Facebook is a great way to do so!

  5. Your business seems perfect for Facebook advertising! You have all the tools to create great images that you own for your ads, and at the same time these great images show off what you are trying to sell . . win/win/win!
